Flowers are a thing of beauty and I have not seen a single person who doesn’t like flowers be it any color flowers are preferred by anyone on different occasions. Each flower is unique, and it carries a meaning, in past we though flowers are just for proposing, engagements and wedding events but they are much more and carry different meaning. Roses are not just a simple rose it has some specific meaning attached with it. Here we have made a list of all the beautiful flowers and the surprising meaning they carry.
- Camellia – they are quite an impressive flowers with pink color most liked by the Victorians and were given then meaning “my destiny is in your hands”
- Purple hyacinth – there is this myth where Apollo accidently killed hyacinth us so it is related to this story and its meaning is “please forgive me”.it has small petals and in cluster and has purple color.
- Carnation – these lovely flowers doesn’t have a good reputation belonged to them.white means lovely and pretty, pink means I will never forget you, if in two tones then it means I will never be with you and yellow means disdain.
- Anemone –they are the small quirky ones and they have a Greek origin, their lives are short so Victorians gave them meaning “forsaken”.
- Chamomile – they are a symbol of relaxation and signify rest, but due to popularity of chamomile tea it is used in the meaning of “energy in adversity”.
- Rhododendron – they are the nice purple flower but Victorians labeled it as “beware” due to presence of poison.
- Sunflower – a bright yellow colored bloom often seen in fields, story has it that when Spanish visit America they think sunflower if made of gold due to its color but it was not true they were wrong hence meaning “false riches” is given to them.
- Verbena – they are seen present in many religious ceremonies so they are given the meaning “pray for me” they are a fragile and petite purple blooms.
- Tansy – they are the cute yellow ball and very soft in texture but they have a serious meaning “I declare war on you”.
- Basil – this is more of a herb grown to use for cooking purposes but as Victorians don’t like strong flavors they gave it a name meaning “hate”
- Goldenrod – this is bloom is known for giving allergies but this represents “encouragement”
- Chrysanthemum – this is a lovely colored flower which is difficult to pronounce but represents “honesty”
- Daffodils – a cheery colored flower represents “a new beginning” perfect for giving to someone celebrating first job, new home, new addition to family.
- Daisies – they represent “innocence”
- Hollyhock – they mean “ambition”
- Honey suckles – they have a sweet smell and represent “bonds of love”
- Purple iris – they are known for wisdom and loyalty.
- Lavender – it means “ devotion”
- Lilacs – they are a wonderful flower representing emotions of love and roses that last a year
- Morning glory – they are the flowers of early risers and represents “affection”.
